Types of Game of Thrones Tours Available

Below are the main types of Game of Thrones tours you can find in Dubrovnik, including group, private, self-guided, combo, and Lokrum Island options.

This overview will help you understand what each offers so you can pick the best fit for your visit.

Group Tours

What to Expect: Join a larger group to explore King’s Landing together with a fixed itinerary. Ideal for those who want a lively group vibe and budget-friendly option.

Pros: More affordable, social atmosphere, set schedules

Cons: Less flexibility, larger crowds, limited personal attention

Estimated Pricing: Around 25€ per person, plus an optional 15€ entrance fee for St. Lawrence Fortress (purchased separately).

Note: I don’t offer group tours myself — this section is here to help you compare all the main Game of Thrones tour options in Dubrovnik.

Private Walking Tours

What to Expect: Enjoy a personalized journey through iconic filming locations with stories and behind-the-scenes facts. Perfect for die-hard fans and those seeking a unique experience.

Pros: Tailored to your interests, flexible timing and pace, deep insider knowledge, intimate atmosphere

Cons: Higher cost compared to group tours

Estimated Pricing: Typical private tours range from 150€–250€ per group. My private tour is offered at just 30€ per person (minimum 2 guests), plus 15€ per person for St. Lawrence Fortress (separate).

Note: For a more personal experience, check out my Game of Thrones walking tour.

Self-Guided Tours

What to Expect: Explore Dubrovnik’s iconic Game of Thrones filming locations at your own pace using online guides. Some spots can be tricky to find and may take extra time.

Pros: Flexible, budget-friendly, explore on your own schedule, great for adventurous travelers

Cons: Requires time investment to find locations, can be challenging to navigate, risk of missing important stories

Estimated Pricing: Free (just your time and energy!).

Note: If you’re short on time, this option might not be ideal. However, if you enjoy wandering Dubrovnik’s medieval streets and exploring hidden corners on your own, this is a perfect choice.

Combo Tours (Game of Thrones + History)

What to Expect: A balanced tour that blends iconic Game of Thrones filming locations with key historical landmarks of Dubrovnik. Perfect if you want the best of both worlds in a single, time-efficient experience.

Pros: Broader cultural context, diverse sightseeing, great for history buffs and fans alike

Cons: Covers both themes in less depth — more of a highlights experience than a deep dive into either

Estimated Pricing: Around 25€ per person. These tours generally don’t go inside the fortress, focusing instead on historical sites.

Note: I run this combo tour privately at the same price (minimum 2 guests), so you get a more flexible and personal experience — see the Game of Thrones & Dubrovnik History Tour for details.

Game of Thrones Tour with Lokrum Island

What to Expect: Similar to the regular Game of Thrones group tour, plus a scenic boat trip and guided walk on Lokrum Island, exploring extra filming spots in a peaceful setting.

Pros: Includes all regular Game of Thrones filming locations, plus Lokrum Island sites, with beautiful natural surroundings and a peaceful, less-crowded atmosphere

Cons: Requires a boat trip (round-trip ticket), weather dependent, longer duration (3 hours), higher price (see estimated pricing below)

Estimated Pricing: Around 35€ per person, plus 15€ entrance fee for St. Lawrence Fortress and 30€ round-trip boat ticket to Lokrum Island (both purchased separately).

Note: My tours don’t include Lokrum Island — it’s a place best explored at your own pace. During my Game of Thrones or Combo tour, I show exactly what was filmed there using my own photo album, so you’ll know what to look for if you visit.

Game of Thrones Driving Tour

What to Expect: Similar to the regular Game of Thrones tour, plus a scenic drive and guided visit to the Trsteno Arboretum. Some providers also include Lokrum Island with this tour.

Pros: Visit nearly all Game of Thrones sites, enjoy sightseeing along the way, and experience the beautiful Trsteno Arboretum gardens.

Cons: Requires transportation by car, longer duration (5~ hours), higher price (see estimated pricing below)

Estimated Pricing: Around 70€ per person, plus 15€ entrance fee for Fort Lovrijenac and 10€ entrance fee for Trsteno Arboretum (both purchased separately).

Note: This tour is perfect for those interested in the Trsteno Arboretum and extra sightseeing. If your main focus is only the Game of Thrones locations, another tour might be a better fit.

Check out my tours! I offer private walking tours—often at a price comparable to many group tours.

The pass activates on first use and is valid for the selected duration (1, 3, or 7 consecutive days).

The 1-day pass costs the same as a standalone City Walls ticket, offering excellent value.

City Walls

Price: €40 for adults (18+), €15 for children aged 7–17, free for children under 7.

Where to Buy: Tickets are sold near the main entrance to the walls. If purchased online through the official webshop, you’ll receive a voucher that must be exchanged at the same location where physical tickets are sold.

St. Lawrence Fortress

Price: €15 per person, free for children under 7.

Where to Buy: Tickets can be purchased at the fortress entrance (cash and card accepted).

For children, this means the City Walls ticket is essentially free, granting access to both the fortress and the walls.

Entry is included with a valid City Walls ticket or Dubrovnik Pass.

Trsteno Arboretum

Price: €10 for adults, €7 for children and students.

Where to Buy: Tickets can be bought at the entrance to the arboretum.

Note: To get there by public transport, take Libertas bus lines 12, 15, or 35 from Dubrovnik’s main bus station in Gruž.

Transport tickets cost around €2.70.

Schedules are limited, so please check times carefully at Libertas suburban timetable.

Dubrovnik Cable Car

Price:

Round-Trip: €30 (children aged 4–12: €8)

One-Way: €17 (children aged 4–12: €5)

Where to Buy: The most convenient way to buy tickets is directly at the cable car station. Tickets are also available online via the official website. However, you might still have to wait in line for the cable car.

Note: Operating hours vary and are weather dependent, so it’s best to check the official website before planning your visit.

If the cable car is not running, consider taking an Uber or taxi to reach the top of Mount Srđ — it can be more affordable, especially for families sharing the ride.

For extra adventurous visitors who enjoy hiking, there’s also a scenic trail leading up to Mount Srđ from the city — just be prepared for a bit of a climb!
